Automotive fuels are made up mostly two elements.Hydrogen and Carbon, which have chemical symbols H and C.Its therefore called hydrocarbon (HC).During complete combustion in the engine, these two elements unite with a third element.the gas oxygen.oxygen forms about 20 percent of the air we breathe. Each oxygen atoms connect up with two hydrogen atoms. Each carbon atom connects up with two oxygen atoms.the combining of hydrogen and oxygen produces H2O,which is just plain water. The combining og carbon nad oxygen produces the gas carbondioxide (CO2).
